Hung at the throat rather than worn on a hand, an opal is spared most of the knocks and abrasion that trouble a gem of 5.5 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale, which makes a pendant the easiest way to own one. It still wants warm soapy water and a soft cloth, never an ultrasonic or steam cleaner. Designed by Ministry of Gems and handcrafted in our own workshop, stone assessed by our FGAA gemmologist.
