In the Words of Our Clients

A gem house should be judged by the people who have actually bought from it. We publish our clients' words in full, unedited, and we link to the source so that anyone may read them at first hand — the same principle that governs our Digital Gemstone Passport and our public Treatment Register. Nothing about a stone, or about this house, is asked to be taken on faith.

Ministry of Gems® holds a rating of 5.0 out of 5 on Google. Five of those reviews are reproduced below in their entirety.

How to verify these reviews independently

Testimonials reproduced on a company's own website are worth very little unless they can be checked against the original. Ours can. Every review above is a genuine Google review, written by a client under their own Google account, and each one can be read in its original form here:

Reviews on Google cannot be edited or deleted by the business they describe — only by the person who wrote them, or by Google. That is precisely why we point you there. If the rating on Google ever differs from the figure shown on this page, the Google listing is the authoritative record.

What this house stands behind

Trust in gemstones rests on verifiable practice rather than adjectives. These are the commitments behind every stone and every piece of jewellery Ministry of Gems® sells:

  • Gemmological assessment. Gemstones are assessed by an FGAA-qualified gemmologist (Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Australia). Independent laboratory certification is arranged where a client requires it or the stone warrants it.
  • Full treatment disclosure. Any treatment a stone has received — heating, or the absence of it, and anything else — is disclosed in writing before purchase and recorded in our public Treatment Register, which anyone may consult without an account or an enquiry.
  • A Digital Gemstone Passport. Each stone is issued a permanent digital record of its identity, weight, dimensions, origin and treatment status, so the stone's history travels with it. See the Digital Gemstone Passport.
  • Free lifetime re-authentication. Any gemstone bought from this house may be returned to us at any time, for the life of the stone, to be re-examined and re-authenticated at no charge — whether by the original buyer or by someone who has since inherited or acquired it.
  • Direct sourcing. Ministry of Gems® is a vertically integrated house: three generations of the family have worked in Ceylon's gem fields since the 1960s, and stones are bought at source rather than through layers of intermediaries.
  • A real workshop, and a door you can walk through. Stones are cut, set and graded in our own Sydney workshop, and clients are welcome to view them in person by appointment.
  • Open education. Twelve handbooks on gemstone buying, treatment, certification and valuation are published free on this site, including the material a reader would need to challenge us.

An invitation

If you would like to see stones in the hand, compare them under proper light and ask the awkward questions, we would be glad to set aside the time. Private viewings are held by appointment at our Sydney premises, and consultations for interstate and overseas clients are held by video call, as several of the clients above describe.

You may arrange a private viewing or consultation here, or speak with us directly on +61 424 009 223. There is no obligation to buy, and there never has been.
