Our story begins underground, in the fabled gem fields of Sri Lanka — the island that has produced the world's finest sapphires for over two thousand years. Deep in our own mines, rough crystal that formed hundreds of millions of years ago waits in darkness. Few jewellers anywhere can say their journey starts here, in tunnels they know by name, alongside miners they trust like family.

2. Mined responsibly, the traditional way
Sri Lankan gem mining is famously low-impact: small-scale pits and tunnels, hand tools, and techniques passed down through generations; no heavy machinery tearing at the landscape. We work hand in hand with local mining families, ensuring fair reward for the people who bring these treasures to light. Ethical sourcing is not a slogan for us; it is simply how our family has always worked.
3. The Gemmologist's first look
Anna Lulinkova, our in-house Gemmologist qualified through the Gemmological Association of Australia (FGAA), travels to the mines and examines rough parcels as they emerge. Her trained eye decides which crystals have the colour, clarity and character to become a Ministry of Gems stone. It is rare for a qualified Gemmologist to witness a gem's entire journey first-hand — and it shows in what we offer.
4. Cut and polished in-house
Cutting is where a gem's beauty is won or lost. Our cutters shape each rough crystal to maximise its brilliance and colour — not merely its carat weight — then polish it to a flawless finish. Because this happens within our own house, nothing is rushed and nothing is outsourced.
5. Graded and certified
Every finished stone is formally graded in-house by our Gemmologist, with full disclosure of any treatments. 6. Designed and crafted into jewellery
The journey's final craft happens at the jeweller's bench, where our stones are set into handcrafted and bespoke pieces. Anna inspects every piece in production — back from the mines and just as passionate at the workshop — so the same unbroken standard travels from rough crystal to finished ring.
