Store an opal separately from harder gems — anything at 7 or above on the Mohs scale will scratch it in a shared box. The old advice about keeping opals in water is a myth for solid stones; steady conditions and gentle cleaning are what actually matter. Understood on those terms, it makes a fine piece to hand down. Designed in-house, handcrafted by our own jewellers, with the stone assessed and any treatment disclosed by our FGAA gemmologist.
