Rings run from engagement rings to dress rings and eternity bands — pieces built around a single centre stone, or a run of matched stones, set in gold or platinum. Ours are sapphire-led. The Ceylon blues and fancy colours come from our own family gem fields around Ratnapura, worked across three generations reaching back to the 1960s, alongside Australian sapphires from our own ground. Stones we do not mine — emerald, ruby, spinel — are hand-selected by our FGAA gemmologist.
The chain from gem field to finished ring stays in family hands: we mine the sapphires, cut and polish them ourselves, and our FGAA gemmologist assesses each one in Sydney. No middleman margin sits in the price. Treatments are disclosed on every listing, independent laboratory reports on request, and re-authentication is free for life.
Common questions
How much does a sapphire engagement ring cost in Australia?
Most fine sapphire engagement rings sit between AUD 3,000 and AUD 15,000, with the centre stone driving the majority of that. A one-carat heated Ceylon blue in a simple gold setting starts near AUD 2,500; an unheated stone of the same size and colour typically runs two to three times higher. Setting complexity and diamond accents add from there.
Is a sapphire hard enough for an everyday engagement ring?
Yes. Sapphire is corundum, 9 on the Mohs scale — second only to diamond among gemstones in everyday use. It handles daily wear, knocks against desks and doorframes, and household cleaning without abrading. Emerald, by contrast, sits at 7.5 to 8 and is brittle because of its inclusions, so it needs a protective setting and gentler treatment.
Are the sapphires in engagement rings heated?
Most are. Heat treatment is standard across the trade — it improves colour and clarity permanently and is accepted practice, provided it is disclosed. We state heated or unheated on every ring listing. The same candour applies to the other stones we set: nearly all emeralds are oiled, and most rubies are heated. Any ring can be independently certified before you buy.
Can a sapphire engagement ring be resized later?
In most cases yes. A plain or partly set band can usually be sized up or down two sizes by a jeweller without disturbing the centre stone. Full eternity bands and rings channel-set all the way round generally cannot be resized — they have to be remade. If you are unsure of your size, ask before ordering: it is easier to make a ring to the right size than to alter it afterwards.
