Black opal describes body tone, not the colour you actually see: the dark base is what makes the play-of-colour above it read so vividly. It is the scarcest of the opal body-tone grades. Hardness of 5.5 to 6.5 means this is jewellery to be worn thoughtfully — no ultrasonic cleaning, no knocks against stone benchtops. Designed by Ministry of Gems, handcrafted in our workshop, with the stone assessed and any treatment disclosed by our FGAA gemmologist.
