Padparadscha takes its name from the Sinhalese for lotus blossom, and the term is reserved for sapphire that holds pink and orange together — neither one nor the other, but both in the same stone. It is one of the rarest colour categories in corundum, and at Mohs 9 it is as hard-wearing as any sapphire, which is what makes an oval solitaire sensible for daily life. Heat treatment is common in sapphire and is disclosed here. Designed and handcrafted in our own workshop.
