Quartz gives us amethyst — purple owed to traces of iron and to natural irradiation over geological time. At 7 on the Mohs scale it wears well as a pendant, where knocks are rare, though prolonged strong sunlight can pale the colour over years, so keep it out of the Australian sun. Heat treatment is common and disclosed. The heart is designed by Ministry of Gems and handcrafted in our own workshop.
