Diamond at 10 on the Mohs scale and sapphire at 9 make this about as hard-wearing as a bracelet gets — a piece for everyday wear rather than the safe. Corundum occurs in every colour except red, where it is called ruby instead, so sapphire bracelets vary widely from one to the next. Heat treatment across the species is common and disclosed.
